First Edition
The first edition of the Laadli-National Creative Excellence Awards for social change was launched in 2008. The theme for this edition was “Stop Sex Selection”. Entries were invited in 7 categories:
- Storyboard of TVCs/Films/Animation Films
- Slogans/Lyrics/Songs
- Print Ads/Cartoons
- Campaign Ideas
- Posters/Outdoor Media
- Photography
The distinguish Jury members include Priti Nair, National Creative Director of Grey Worldwide; M.G. Parameswaran, Executive Director of FCB-Ulka Advertising; Pranesh Misra, President and COO, Lowe India; Mohammed Khan, founder of Enterprise Nexus and Ex-Chairman of Bates Enterprise; Pradeep Guha, CEO of Zee Telefilms Ltd; Ramesh Narayan, founder of Canco Advertising; K.V. Sridhar, National Creative Director of Leo Burnett and Anuja Gulati, Maharashtra State Program Officer, UNFPA.
More than 400 entries were received from creative individuals and agencies across India in different languages. 140 entries were chosen and nominated for the Awards. The nominated entries were uploaded on the website www.creative-excellence.org for free access by stakeholders campaigning against sex selection. 5 winning entries were chosen across 7 categories from 140 nominated entries. The awards ceremony was held on 30th June 2008 at Y.B. Chavan Centre, Nariman Point (Mumbai).
